Remapping Your Mind: The Neuroscience of Self-Transformation Through Story

AN EVENING WORKSHOP & BOOKSIGNING
Friday, August 12, 7–9:30pm
16SHH08M
Members: $28 / Nonmembers: $40

Lewis Mehl-Madrona, MD, PhD, and Barbara Mainguy, MA, MFA

We are born into a world of stories that quickly shape our behavior and development without our conscious awareness. By retelling personal, family, and cultural narratives we can transform the patterns of our own lives and the patterns that shape our communities and the larger social worlds in which we interact.

In this evening presentation, applying the latest neuroscience research on memory, brain mapping, and brain plasticity to the field of narrative therapy, Lewis Mehl-Madrona and Barbara Mainguy will explain how the brain is specialized in the art of storymaking and storytelling. They will detail mind-mapping and narrative therapy techniques that use story to change behavior patterns. They’ll also explore how narrative therapy can offer templates for healthier relationships with each other and the planet.

Note: A book signing will follow the workshop at 9:30pm. For more information click here: https://www.opencenter.org/events/remapping-your-mind-the-neuroscience-of-self-transformation-through-story/
