Zecharia Sitchin:

A BIOGRAPHY

JoMyPa_authorpicZecharia Sitchin (1920-2010) was an internationally acclaimed researcher and author of 14 books that retell the history and prehistory of mankind and planet Earth by combining archaeology, the Bible, and ancient Mesopotamian and Egyptian texts with the latest scientific discoveries ranging from space exploration to biology. Able to read millennia-old Sumerian cuneiform tablets, his writings treat ancient sources not as myth, but as records of actual events. The result is a saga of flesh and blood, astronauts, gods and Earthlings, and a chain of events from the past that leads to a prophetic future.

Mr. Sitchin was born in Russia and grew up in Palestine, where he acquired profound knowledge of ancient and modern languages, the Bible, and the archaeology and history of the ancient Near East.  He studied at the London School of Economics and Political Science and graduated from the University of London, majoring in economic history.  A journalist and editor in Israel for many years, he later made his home in New York City.

Mr. Sitchin’s research and books have been featured in dozens of journals internationally, most recently in an article appearing in The New York Times on Jan. 10, 2010. He was heralded as the 1996 Scientist of the Year by the International Forum on New Science, and has been a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Oriental Society, the Middle East Studies Association of North America, and the Israel Exploration Society.

His trailblazing books, whose combined sales run into the millions, have been translated into 25 languages as well as Braille. They have been bestsellers in countries ranging from Germany to Russia, Turkey to Japan, Spain to Brazil; have had countless reviews, articles and feature stories in major U.S., British, Spanish, German, Italian, Japanese, Greek, and Turkish dailies and periodicals as well as scores of other publications around the world.

His first book, The 12th Planet, celebrated its 30th anniversary of  publication (and by then the 45th mass market printing in the USA) in 2006.  It was followed by The Stairway to Heaven (1980), The Wars of Gods and Men (1985), The Lost Realms (1990), Genesis Revisited (1990), When Time Began (1993), Divine Encounters (1995), The Cosmic Code (1998), The Lost Book of Enki (2002), The Earth Chronicles Expeditions (2004), Journeys to the Mythical Past (2007), The End of Days (2007), The Earth Chronicles Handbook (2009), and There Were Giants Upon the Earth (2010).

Mr. Sitchin has been repeatedly interviewed and featured on radio and TV in the United States, Britain, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, France, Germany, Holland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Switzerland, etc.  He is featured on DVDs, YouTube, and on countless other Internet websites (apart from his own www.sitchin.com).  His lectures, seminars, and Expeditions, in the United States and overseas, have been attended by tens of thousands.
