Healing through Sound

The art of divining, or dowsing, has for years been cloaked in mystery and superstition. Recognized by some as a means of finding water and minerals, it is actually a method for anyone to develop intuitive skills. This thought-provoking book demystifies dowsing and presents this ancient science as a powerful tool for self-knowledge.

Includes a brief history of dowsing, and step-by-step instructions for learning to use L-rods, Y-rods, and pendulums, as well as non-device dowsing. Shows how dowsing is used for locating water, gold and other minerals, buried artifacts, ancient ritual sites, and in police work to help find missing persons.

Terry Ross was a dowser from 1927 until his recent death in July 2000.  Founder and President of the American Society of Dowsers, he was one of only six people in the world to receive the Col. Bell Award from the British Society of Dowsers.  Richard Wright was co-director with Terry Ross of the American School of Dowsing from 1984 to 1987.  He is currently a trustee of the American Society of Dowsers and one of the four editors of the American Dowser Quarterly.
"For a complete stranger to dowsing you would be hard put to find a better introduction; for those who think they already know something, it might be a surprising revelation."

Journal of the British Society of Dowsers

"The Divining Mind is a must for your reading. Not just a book to be read and filed away, it is a book to be studied and absorbed and used as a guide for the everyday practical experiences of dowsing."

DOWSING / DIVINATION

Authors T. Edward Ross and Richard D. Wright offer new insight into the ancient practice of dowsing as they bring to light its infinite and still largely unrecognized possibilities. The Divining Mind’s clear text and illustrations work together to provide an easy to follow step-by-step plan that not only shows you how to dowse, but also identifies the true source of the dowser’s ability: the unlimited potential and power of the mind.

The authors teach you to dowse beginning with water and other easily verifiable and traditional subjects. Practice starts in your home and proceeds to the location and verification of outdoor and distant targets. Finally, you are guided toward accessing information of every kind, working beyond the confines of space and time to solve abstract and intangible problems. Instructions are given in the use of various dowsing devices, including the L-rod, Y-rod, and pendulum, leading up to more complex applications of the art, such as remote (map) dowsing, “deviceless dowsing” and distant healing.

Unlike other books on the subject, The Divining Mind presents an open-ended conceptual framework through which to explore the frontiers of the mind. Ross and Wright emphasize that an ethical approach based on the desire to be of service to others, in cooperation with nature, is the key to dowsing success.

T. EDWARD (TERRY) ROSS has been dowsing since he was eleven. In 1958 he was present at the founding of the American Society of Dowsers, Inc., at Danville, Vermont, and later served as its president and editor of its award-winning journal The American Dowser. He has lectured and written extensively on the theory and practice of dowsing and travels internationally to locate water supplies for clients in industry, government, and agriculture. RICHARD WRIGHT was codirector with Terry Ross of the Dowsing School of the American Society of Dowsers from 1984 through 1987. He is currently a trustee of the Society and an editor of The American Dowser. Working together, the authors have long sought to demystify dowsing. Their book makes the skill accessible to all those interested in an orderly unfolding of their natural intuitive abilities.
