Stay in your power: what you can do for yourself now!

by Sandy Taikyu Kuhn Shimu, author of Boost Your Natural Energy

We live in crazy and challenging times. The ever-increasing stresses and strains of daily life include the pressures of performance, competition, existence, or life itself. Pressure creates counter-pressure. This load weighs heavily on our shoulders, expends valuable energy and vitality, and can even cause stagnation and depression. Shoulder and neck tensions, headaches, sleep and digestive problems, skin irritations, irritability, anxiety, fears or nervousness: these are silent but clear indications that our energy is not in flow and that we are no longer in balance. It is important that we remain in our power, strengthen our inner center, and let our energies flow again. Below are three simple tips for daily life, three “energy pearls” for you to use at any given moment of the day.

Energy Pearl Number 1: Protect Yourself!

This protective meditation reinforces inner strength and protects against negative external influences. It underpins the process of inner and outer healing and delivers consciousness and peace. It helps us to draw physical and psychological boundaries and brings joy, fearlessness, clarity, and energy.

This color meditation is also known as the “Tower of Light.” The color blue stands for peace, rest, regeneration, relaxation, contentment, harmony, trust, protection, safety, peace, serenity, freedom, devotion, inspiration, and infinity. White stands for clarity, purity, perfection, expansiveness, emptiness, transcendence, light, healing, wisdom, compassion, sincerity, peace, spirituality, and enlightenment. Together the two colors form the perfect symbiosis for a protective and healing meditation.

Meditation

Choose your preferred meditation posture. Breathe calmly in and out through your nose. Gently focus your attention on the point midway between your eyebrows. Visualize a bright white sphere above your head. Imagine a powerful blue shell surrounding you and the white ball around a foot/30 cm away. Divert your attention to the white ball, from which a sparkling white light now flows into your body. Notice how the clear and bright light slowly fills your body from your feet. Your feet, lower legs, thighs, buttocks, hips, back, stomach, chest, shoulders, hands, forearms, upper arms, neck, and head are all now filled with this white, bright, and clear light. Your entire body shines in a bright and beautiful light. The white light flows out over your head and along your body to the floor. It slowly fills the space between you and the blue shell. When you look at yourself from outside, you see that you are filled with white light, surrounded by it, and wrapped in a blue protective cover. You feel safe and secure. You feel peace and harmony. You feel inner strength and clarity. Stay in this mental and physical posture for a few minutes and feel the inner strength and clarity.

Energy Pearl Number 2: Boost Your Immune System!

Ginger has been used as a spice in cooking for over 3,000 years. The natural healing powers of ginger water are recognized by Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and also the Indian healing system of Ayurveda. Ginger delivers speedy energy and has a positive effect on both body and mind. Ginger roots are full of valuable vitamins, minerals, and trace elements. It owes its pungent taste to gingerol. Hot ginger water warms the center, improves digestion, supports purification, promotes metabolism and detoxification, regulates weight, and stimulates drainage. It relieves cramps, has a stimulating effect, alleviates mild stomach problems, and prevents colds.

Ginger Water Recipe

Ingredients

1¼ cup (300 ml) water

1 small piece fresh ginger

Instructions

Boil the water for at least 10 minutes. Slice the ginger finely. Put the slices in a cup and pour in the hot water. Allow to stand for a few minutes. Sip slowly.

Energy Pearl Number 3: Tap Yourself Healthy and Happy

The Latin word thymus comes from the Greek thymos, meaning “life force.” The thymus gland is the most important organ in the human immune system because it releases defense hormones. It affects our ability to deal with burdens and assaults on our physical and emotional state and helps us to ward them off successfully. The thymus is located in the center of the body behind the sternum, about 2.5 inches (7 cm) below the pit of the throat.

This simple exercise reduces stress and anxiety while also boosting the immune system. It will give you courage and drive and increase your vitality. Children and young people can also benefit from this exercise. Activate your thymus before an exam, a job interview, or a lecture for greater composure, inner security, and self-confidence.

Tapping the Thymus

Sit or stand upright. Tap the thymus or sternum with your fingertips or fists for 60 seconds. Remember to breathe regularly and tap rhythmically, adapting the intensity of the tapping to your needs and well-being. You can repeat this exercise several times a day. Children love to roar like Tarzan while activating the thymus gland.

A final important tip:

Joy is the source of inspiration and the foundation of energy. Learn to laugh at yourself. Don’t take yourself and life too seriously. Open yourself to the power of the moment and go with life’s flow. Whether things in your environment are good or bad, positive or negative, you decide what they do to you! Everything begins and ends with your perception of yourself and of the world.

Together we master everything!
